Matthew Juksan Sullivan has been practicing meditation for over 20 years. He first studied with Lama Tara Goforth and Lama Shenphen at Kunzang Dechen Osel Ling, a Tibetan Buddhist retreat centre on Salt Spring Island, BC, where he did a year-long retreat. In 2003, he became a student of Yangil Sunim, a Korean Zen Master and Patriarch of the Chogye Order. Yangil Sunim ordained Matthew as a Dharma Teacher in 2006 and in 2013 made him a Zen Master.
Matthew has been guiding meditation at Moksha Yoga Downtown for over 7 years.
The Mediation Circles at Moksha Yoga Downtown are low key. They are designed for both beginners and experienced meditators. We go over basic meditation techniques, practice sitting together, and discuss stories about ancient Zen masters and their antics. Occasionally we chant, hold a tea ceremony or try walking meditation.
